Mrs. Beverly LaHaye
Founder and Chairman, CWA
     6/5/2007
Founder and Chairman, CWA

Beverly LaHaye founded Concerned Women for America (CWA) in 1979 to protect and promote Biblical values for women and families-first through prayer, then education and finally, by influencing our elected leaders and society. CWA works in six core areas of America's modern cultural turmoil: sanctity of life, definition of the family, the fight against pornography, education, religious liberty and national sovereignty.

Recognized Women's Rights Pioneer
Mrs. LaHaye has been frequently recognized for her leadership in the political and Christian community. In 1984, she was named "Christian Woman of the Year." In 1988, she was named "Church Woman of the Year." In 1991, she received the Southern Baptist Convention's "Religious Freedom Award." The Values Action Team of the U.S. House of Representatives honored her in 1994 for her service to the country. In 2001 she received the Thomas Jefferson Award for her outstanding Leadership and CASA's "Heritage of Faithfulness Award." In 2003 she was privileged to receive the American Association of Christian Counselors' Caregiver Award. In 1992, Liberty University awarded her an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities for her lifetime achievement in protecting the rights of the family. Mrs. LaHaye was honored with the Extraordinary Woman of the Year Award (2006) from Extraordinary Women, a ministry whose mission is to host events and provide resources that equip women to handle life's difficulties while enriching their hearts, encouraging their souls and expanding their ministry. She was recognized for her many years of steadfast service and outstanding achievements.

Author
Mrs. LaHaye has authored nine books and has co-authored seven more. The New Spirit Controlled Woman, The Act of Marriage and Spiritual Power for the Family are works that have carried a special message of encouragement to women across the country. Mrs. LaHaye's A Woman's Path to True Significance, co-authored with Dr. Janice Crouse, was released in 2001. Through her books, Mrs. LaHaye has carefully instructed women in the delicate blend of the calling to be wives, mothers and leaders. Her best-selling fiction series Seasons Under Heaven written with Terry Blackstock illustrates how these themes weave into family life.

Former Radio Talk Show Host
Mrs. LaHaye pioneered the award-winning show Beverly LaHaye Live as a daily outreach to influence women and men to take political action, build strong families and take leadership in their communities. Beverly LaHaye Live was awarded the National Religious Broadcasters' "Talk Show of the Year Award" in 1993. With an updated format and new title, Concerned Women Today carried on Mrs. LaHaye's vision as a family-friendly talk show that covered cutting-edge news and offered practical advice in fighting the culture war until April, 2004.

Spokesperson
Mrs. LaHaye has appeared on countless newscasts and interviews defending faith and freedom in America. She has been seen on CBS Evening News; NBC Nightly News; ABC's World News Tonight and Nightline, and Donahue. She has written routinely for USA Today, and her editorials have been placed in other top papers across the country. Mrs. LaHaye has also conducted over 350 seminars with her husband on Family Living in the U.S.A. and 46 foreign countries.

Mrs. LaHaye currently serves on the boards of Liberty University, Childcare, Intl. and the International Right to Life Federation. She and her husband, Dr. Tim LaHaye, have four adult children, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. They live in Southern California.
